Kinda Having A Leopard Moment!

Oh my gosh!  What is going on with me!!!  Here lately, I've been having such an animal print "thing" going on!  This says a lot, since I only own one animal print item, (It's a Betsy Johnson leopard print handbag that I bought years ago!) and not one animal print in my decor!  But, I've been sourcing and specifying it quite a bit for clients!  Go figure!  Admittedly, I find leopard print a little more challenging to pull off!  I just think it can get a bit sleazy, quickly!  A very discriminating eye should be used when wearing and selecting this print for your interior!  Just my opinion, that's all!

This is where my morning of leopard print would begin!  Yes folks, that is leopard print carpet!  I like it!  It's very chic here, but I think I may want to add a very classic chair in a timeless fabric with a subtle pattern?  Hmmm, let me think on that...

Okay, now this is a great option if you're just not certain that you're an animal print kinda gal!

Same for these incredible clutch handbags!  I am that woman who would do an animal print accessory before I would an item of clothing!  Although, that is changing, obviously!

These are so amazing!  I am all about a hot stilleto, and this one is sooo hot!!!

A little too much going on for my taste, BUT, I can appreciate each element on its own.

I would probably be more inclined to using this print like it's shown here.  A neutral wall color, simple gallery frames, white trim and mouldings.  Yeah, I can wrap my brain around this one!

Again, I can appreciate this look and am actually quite impressed!  I like how they mixed the leopard print flooring with the zebra print chairs!  This works because both prints share the same colors; an essential element when mixing patterns and prints!  Not to mention that this is Diane von Furstenberg's residence and she is fa-bu-lous!

This look is classic to me!  A white button down always makes any ensemble classic and timeless!  I also like that there is not a lot else going on here!  Her jewelry is simple and her manicure is a great, trendy green.

A classic style sofa is given a little spice with leopard upholstery!  This works for me because it's in a room with timeless elements!

Have an amazing Saturday, my Friends!

My very best friend and I had such an amazing time out last week!  A little shopping at Bungalow Classic on Howell Mill Road and lunch at Carroll Street Cafe in Cabbagetown!  I tell ya, I love it when I hang with friends that get just as excited about design and all things beautiful, as I do!  Ah, it's like a really good nap!  LOL!!!  Refreshing and energizing!  Anyhoo, please stay a while and take a look at the lovely, gorgeous, wonderful, inspiring, and amazing furnishings, lighting, and accessories that can be found at Bungalow Classic.  The staff there is incredibly nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable!  If you're ever in the area, definitely stop in!  It will be sooo worth it!  You won't be disappointed!

Hmm, I finished this posting in a nick of time!  My meds just wore off (tooth pain)!
Have a fantastic Friday!

Sorry, Just Not Feeling Well...

Here's the deal, and it is all my fault!  I grind my teeth at night while sleeping, (not my fault) and as a result I have two cracked teeth!  No, I don't sleep with a night guard, but I will be very soon, I can assure you!  One of the cracked teeth, I have had for close to two years and one was just recently discovered at my last cleaning in September.  Yes, of course, my dentist, God bless her heart, has tried, up to this point, unsuccessfully, to get me to crown them!  Well, now I am having excruciating pain in the most recent one and it has been determined that I need a root canal (this is my fault)!  This has prompted me to go ahead and get the older one crowned before it causes me pain and needs a root canal as well!  Unfortunately, the earliest I can get in to have the root canal done is March 1st!  The endodontist informed me that soon I will have no more pain because the nerve will die, but the root canal is necessary because the tooth will abscess if not removed.  I'm praying for the death of this nerve!  The pain meds that I am currently taking, only takes the edge off and only for an hour or two at best!  I truly want to pull my head off by grabbing my top row of teeth!  This way I can access, without obstruction, the tooth in question, yank it out, and pull the nerve(s) out myself!  Guys let me tell ya, the pain is so bad at times until my ear and my throat hurts!  I truly get why ear, nose, and throat doctors exist!

Anyhoo, please forgive me and hang in there with me if I should miss a day or two of posting!  Well, just until this nerve goes on to a better place!  I will definitely stop in and post when I'm not writhing in pain!

From Runway To Room

Fashion has a huge influence on interiors!  I've always found it odd, though, that some of the most fashionable people struggle with pulling together their interiors with the same panache as their wardrobe.  Honestly, I think one of the first places to start when considering an interior project is your closet or if you're like me and can't ever seem to find anything in your closet, a fashion magazine.  Truly, there is a lot to be said for doing this!  You'll find a style that you're attracted to, as well as color, pattern, and texture.  Don't concern yourself with being all over the place and having a mish mash of styles and elements that have no relationship, because you're going to be drawn to things that fall within the same style.  Also, don't over-think it!  Afterall, it's not rocket science!  Have fun and let it flow!  Hmmm, not flowing?  Step away and come back!  You'll have a fresher perspective!

Christian Dior pre-Fall 2012 Collection

I'm crazy about this look!  It is classic, timeless, and very feminine!  Structured jackets and blazers are among my favorites and this one with the boat neckline and three quarter length sleeve is smart and beautiful.  Cinched at the waist with a belt accentuates the waist, and the neckline frames the face and shows off the neck.  The skirt has is a lovely cut that gathers nicely at the waist and falls perfectly above the knee; which is very important because if it falls right at the knee it can be rather unflattering if you have large knees or calves.  The black turtleneck is so amazing with the really long sleeves!  I love long sleeves like this because I'm 5'10" with long arms and rarely do I find sleeves long enough!

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not much for pink walls!  But this room has the feel of what I get from the look above.  Yes, it is very feminine, due in large part to the wall color; which I would, without a doubt, change!  The artwork above is wonderful!  It works well with this gorgeous velvet sofa with the floral burnout pattern!  How incredible is this!  I would remove the existing pillows and do others that are maybe a little more "comfortable".  I think possibly a glass or color ceramic lamp with a simple, structured lampshade would be a great complement to the sofa and artwork.  The whole idea is to look for a picture or room that inspires you.  Whether it's one element or several, take the things that resonate with you and build upon them.  It's not about reproducing the exact same room as much as it is reinterpreting it to suit your taste and lifestyle!

Have the most lovely day!

Red Doors Mean Welcome, Black Doors Mean...

I have been noticing for a little while now, the use of the color black for front and interior doors.  Now we all know that the color black, in fashion, represents power and authority.  It is also very sophisticated, classic, elegant, and timeless; which is exactly the look and feel conveyed in the following images.  I did a little bit of research to see if there was any information regarding what a black front door or black doors of any kind meant.  The only thing I came across had to do with Feng Shui, and it didn't really speak about using black as a color for your front door, unless it was in your career area.  I'm not all that well versed in Feng Shui, but if you'd like to read more about this subject click here.  Do you have an opinion about the use of black on front doors or interior doors?  I'd love to hear from you!

So striking this front door is with the green planters and trees, made even more dramatic in front of an all white facade!

I love the glossy black finish with the brass hardware on this paneled door!

Beautiful mouldings definitely raises the bar here and makes for a very elegant entry!

The English door knob and mail slot are a gorgeous addition to this door!

What a gorgeous, light-filled entry that showcases such a wonderful inlay flanked by beautiful planters brimming over with lovely, big leaf botanicals!  Simplicity making a big statement!

Double entry doors are always very classic and elegant!

What lovely trim we have surrounding this pair!  I think the black really enhances this front door as the architectural feature of the entry!

Wow!  These pocket doors are pretty basic, but with a coat or two of black paint and the white trim makes for a timeless and dramatic entry into this stunning dining room!  I am swooning over the ceiling treatment and chandelier!  Not to mention how incredible this blue is framed by the black doors!

Behind these traditional, black painted doors lies a room of modern comfort and style!

I can't help but think this closet is nothing short of amazing!  Just a glimpse of the Hermes orange and Tiffany blue boxes makes me want to know what else is inside!  This is where style dresses each morning!

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely evening!
